What is Chrysalis?
Chrysalis is a support group for the loved ones left behind when someone dies by suicide. It's offered through the Lake County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

When and where does Chrysalis meet?
The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Church, located on Little Mountain Road just south of Johnnycake Ridge Road (Route 84) in Mentor. Meetings are in the church's Worman Room.

Is there any cost to attend?
No.

Why the name?
A chrysalis is the cocoon from which a butterfly emerges. It's a protected environment in which growth can occur. We thought the word offered a great metaphor for what we'd like this group to become.

Who can come to Chrysalis meetings?
Meetings are open to adults and older teens. At this point we do not have child care available, so you'll need to make your own arrangements for younger children.

Do I need to call ahead if I'm planning to attend?
Nope. Just pop in. But if you have further questions please call 440-354-0110. Leave us a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Does the group have a religious affiliation?
No. Chrysalis is open to anyone, regardless of their personal beliefs.

What can I expect at meetings?
The meetings are a time for sharing and listening in a safe and confidential setting. You'll be with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one by suicide. Our goal is to facilitate ways for attendees to gain insight, knowledge and perspective from others who have "been there".

Will I be asked to speak?
Only if and when you're comfortable doing so. In the meantime, you'll be able to gain comfort and broaden your understanding by listening to others talk about their experiences.
